Where to Buy Stream Overlays (and What to Check First)
Marketplaces, individual designers and subscription sites — the trade-offs, and the questions to ask before paying.
You've got three options: marketplaces (Etsy, itch.io), individual designers (commissions), and subscription sites. Marketplaces are cheapest and instant; commissions are unique but slow; subscriptions cost forever.
What to check before buying
Does it include animated files or only stills? Are alerts and panels in the set? What license — personal use, and can you use it on multiple platforms? Is it a one-time purchase or a subscription?
Beware the subscription trap
Some sites rent you a look. Stop paying and you lose access. A one-time purchase you keep forever is usually better value for a channel that isn't changing themes monthly.
Check the previews are real
If a listing shows a slick mockup but no actual asset previews, ask. You want to see the screens, alerts and panels you're actually getting.
