Vertical Overlays for TikTok Live: What's Different

A 16:9 overlay squashed into 9:16 looks broken. Here's how vertical layouts actually work.

TikTok Live is 1080ร—1920 (9:16). A horizontal overlay scaled into that frame leaves black bars or crops your art in half, so vertical needs its own layout โ€” not a resize.

The UI eats your edges

TikTok stacks comments, gifts and buttons over the bottom third and the right side. Anything you place there gets covered. Keep your frame and any text in the upper-middle area.

Design top-down, not left-right

In vertical, elements stack: your camera near the top, content in the middle, decoration at the very bottom edge. Side-by-side layouts from a horizontal pack don't translate.

Set OBS to vertical

In Settings โ†’ Video, set both Base and Output resolution to 1080ร—1920 before you position anything. Laying out in 16:9 and switching afterwards moves everything.
