OBS Audio Out of Sync: How to Fix the Delay
Lip-sync drift is almost always one source's offset. Here's how to measure and correct it.
OBS has a per-source Sync Offset measured in milliseconds. Fixing drift is a matter of finding which source is early or late and nudging it.
Find the offset
Record 30 seconds of yourself clapping on camera, then scrub the recording. If the sound lands after the clap, your audio is late; before it, early.
Apply it
In the Audio Mixer, click the gear on the source → Advanced Audio Properties → set Sync Offset. Positive values delay the audio; typical corrections are 50–300ms.
Cameras are the usual culprit
Webcams and capture cards buffer video, so their audio arrives early. Offsetting the *camera's* audio, not your mic, is usually the right move.
Check Bluetooth
Bluetooth headsets add unpredictable latency that changes between sessions. Wired audio removes the problem entirely — worth it for streaming.
