OBS Filters Explained: The Ones Worth Using
Chroma key, color correction, crop, scroll. What each does and where it actually helps.
Filters apply per source in OBS (right-click a source → Filters). Five are worth knowing; the rest you'll likely never touch.
Chroma Key
Removes a green screen or a solid background — essential for VTuber models and green screens. Lower the Similarity until the background goes without eating hair edges.
Color Correction
Fixes a washed-out or too-blue camera. Small nudges to saturation and gamma do more for a cheap webcam than a new camera would.
Crop/Pad
Trims a source without scaling it — the right way to fit a 16:9 camera into a square frame. (Holding Alt while dragging does the same thing visually.)
Scroll
Moves an image continuously — good for subtle animated backgrounds or a credits strip on your Ending screen.
Luma Key
Removes based on brightness rather than color. Useful for overlays exported on black when you don't have a transparent version — though a proper transparent WEBM pack avoids the need entirely.
