Multistreaming sends one OBS output to several platforms through a restreaming service (Restream, Aitum, or similar) so you only encode once. Your upload doesn't have to multiply.
How it works
You stream to the service; it forwards to each platform. Free tiers usually cover two destinations at a limited bitrate, which is plenty for most small channels.
The exclusivity catch
Twitch Affiliates and Partners have contract terms about simultaneous streaming. Check your agreement before adding Twitch to a multistream — this is the part people skip and regret.
Chat gets split
You'll have separate chats per platform. Use a combined chat viewer so you can actually respond to everyone, or you'll unintentionally ignore one audience.
Your overlay carries over
