How to Back Up Your OBS Setup (Before You Lose It)
Scene collections and profiles export in seconds. Do it now, not after the reinstall.
OBS keeps two things you care about: Scene Collections (your layouts and sources) and Profiles (stream settings and hotkeys). Both export to a file in seconds.
Export both
Scene Collection โ Export and Profile โ Export. Save them somewhere synced โ cloud storage or a USB drive, not just your desktop.
Back up the media too
A scene collection stores file *paths*, not the files. Moving to a new PC needs your Stream folder as well, ideally at the same path so sources resolve automatically.
Do it after every big change
New pack, new layout, new hotkeys โ export again. It takes ten seconds and saves an evening.
Keep the original downloads
Your original pack files are your real backup. Keep them archived so you can rebuild from scratch if a drive fails โ every pack stays available in your Etsy purchases too.
Redownload any time
Etsy keeps your purchases โ rebuild your setup whenever you need to.
